Milling Cutter TechnologyMCT - Milling Cutter Technology

Protects the contents from being cut or damaged. Removes up to 3mm (1/8”) of the envelope edge.  The removed material is in the form of tiny chips, which are deposited in the waste bin. Creates a soft, feathered edge opening, which prevents paper cuts and gives easy access to the contents.

This video was produced for a customer who requested we test opening his business check sized envelopes before he purchased the MCT-78 Letter Opener.  His concern was the tight fitting contents would be cut or damaged when opened.  The content was a letter size sheet folded to this dimension: 3-5/8" High x 8-1/2" Long.  The business check envelope dimensions: 3-9/16" High x 8-5/8" Long, with these envelope dimensions there is little clearance for the contents, making for a tight fit.  The Milling Cutting Technology allows for micro adjustment from no cut up to 3 mm or 1/8".  We set the Milling Cutter to remove just enough of the envelope to fully open it without damaging the contents.  You'll see in the video that although the contents were not damaged, the content was so tight fitting that it was difficult to extract from the envelope; for this reason we recommended the customer switch to a #9 envelope for easier extraction.

This video shows the Mixed Thickness Feeder (MTF2) in-line with Mixed Thickness Printer and other printer configurations which are available depending on your application.
